an EVENTFUL weekend

Do you ever have those days where everything in life hits you all at once? The good, and the bad...Both mentally and physically draining. Well this past weekend was just that.

On Thursday night, we found out that my Grandma was put into hospice and was not expected to make it past the weekend. So, of course we rushed over to the hospital to be with her, my Grandpa and the rest of my family. We spent a few hours there, then headed back home since I had to be to work early the next morning. Friday night was spent once again at the hospital. It was so great to see many of my aunts, uncles, and cousins there to support my Grandma and Grandpa, and spend time with one another. My uncle was able to give my Grandma a blessing, with the help of my uncles, cousins, Dad and Zach. It was incredible to feel the peaceful spirit that came over all of us from this amazing blessing. We talked for hours of the memories we have gained in our own lives while spending time with my adorable Grandma. We finally called it a night around 3:30 am, and headed home from the hospital to get in a few hours of sleep. My Grandma, Patricia Rose Service passed away around 7:00 that morning. She was an amazing woman, who dearly loved her family with all of her heart. Her family was her life, and I definitely look up to her for that. She and my Grandpa were more in love than anyone else I know. They are a true example to Zach and I in our marriage, and we strive to be like them on that level. My Grandma will most definitely be missed, but we know that she is in a happier place now...

For some reason I could not really sleep that night, and woke up after about 5 hours of sleep to a text message from my dad. It said that our niece Lucy was admitted to Primary Children's Hospital early that morning with an unknown respiratory infection. She is only 1, so obviously we were very worried. Zach and I were able to go up to the hospital to spend some time with her, and give her mom, Elsha, a little break. It was heartbreaking to see her hooked up to oxygen, and to hear how much she hated having her lungs suctioned...Which I definitely don't blame her, not fun! It was obvious that she was miserable, and not herself. But, she LOVES her uncle Zach, so seeing him definitely put a smile on her face. She spent the night there, but was able to breathe a lot better on her own the next afternoon, so she was sent home. We are both SO happy that she is ok, and doing much better!! Now she can get back to her cute little self...

Wish I Would Have Thought of This...

From The London Times:

A Well-Planned Retirement

Outside England 's Bristol Zoo there is a parking lot
for 150 cars and 8 buses. For 25 years, its
parking fees were managed by a very pleasant
attendant. The fees were 1 lb for cars ($1.40),
5 lb for busses (about $7).

Then, one day, after 25 solid years of never missing

a day of work, he just didn't show up; so the Zoo
Management called the City Council and asked it
to send them another parking agent.

The Council did some research and replied that the

parking lot was the Zoo's own responsibility.
The Zoo advised the Council that the attendant was
a City employee.
The City Council responded that the lot attendant
had never been on the City payroll.

Meanwhile, sitting in his villa somewhere on the coast of Spain

(or some such scenario), is a man who'd apparently had a
ticket machine installed completely on his own; and then
had simply begun to show up every day, commencing
to collect and keep the parking fees, estimated at about
$560 per day -- for 25 years.
Assuming 7 days a week, this amounts to just over $7 million dollars!

.......

And no one even knows his name.

What Happens in VEGAS...

Last Friday I hopped on a plane flew down to meet 6 of my best friends in LAS VEGAS for a GIRLS weekend!! It was a much needed getaway full of shopping, sight seeing, late nights, sharing secrets, yummy desserts, sleeping in, and best of all making MEMORIES. Let's just hope it's true what they say...WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS, STAYS IN VEGAS.

At the CASINO in our hotel...MANDALAY BAY

Going shopping...I think we spent 5 hours at H&M, loved it!!

Getting ready for a night on the town...

How could we make a trip to Las Vegas and not get dessert at SERENDIPITY'S?!
YUMMMM....my favorite, FROZEN HOT CHOCOLATE

(I think we took about 500 pictures between the 7 of us. I don't have all of them from the other girls yet, but as soon as I do I'll post them. We have too many cute pictures not to share...)
